SB, who lives at our Canal Lodge service in Burton-on-Trent, scaled new heights recently when he discovered a passion for climbing!
While searching online, SB found a local Clip ’n Climb centre and decided it was something he wanted to try. He shared his interest with the support team, who contacted the centre and arranged a session for him. A member of the Canal Lodge team also joined SB on the climbing wall to provide encouragement and support.
SB was clearly delighted with his decision to give it a go, and he proved to be a natural on the wall. Having discovered a new interest to pursue, it’s onwards – and definitely upwards – from here! SB’s experience demonstrates the value of encouraging people to make their voices heard and fostering good communication, two principles that matter hugely at Godfrey Care.
It’s fantastic to see SB taking the lead in shaping his own experiences, and equally pleasing to see the Canal Lodge team listening and responding with their usual enthusiasm, positivity and inclusivity. Together, they’ve harnessed SB’s initiative and turned a great idea into action.
